ABOUT

Blue Mirror is the art and literary magazine for NCSSM. We publish 3 times a year, coinciding with the seasonal changes. We encourage all forms of creative expression and all levels of experience; you don't have to be seen as "artistic" to submit!

We do not subscribe to any particular aesthetic but instead look for pieces that are original in nature. Pieces that combine word and art, blurring the lines between the two mediums (collages, black out poetry) are welcome. As of late, we have been interested in bridging the gap between art and literature and welcome all submissions.

EDITORS

We are the editors! With the efforts of you, us, and Mr. Woodmansee, this magazine is possible. Our role as editors is to take the decisions from voting and refine them, making selection cuts according to the journal layout. We value diverse perspectives, and we do not want individuality to be lost through our edits. Ultimately, Blue Mirror is to showcase art/lit pieces, and us editors give shape to your work.

CATHERINE VU

ART EDITOR

Hi! I’m Vyshu (she/her), and I’m excited to be in charge of art for Blue Mirror this year. I usually work with acrylics or ink, but I love seeing submissions across all forms of visual art, including ones that combine mediums in unique ways. In the end, the most important thing about art is to feel comfortable and have fun while creating!

LITERATURE

EDITOR

Hello! My name's Zenith Jarrett and I use she/they pronouns. It's a true joy to work on the Blue Mirror as an editor! I feel genuine surprise and excitement over each submission, and as an amateur myself, I recommend writing and submitting whatever you love reading most. My favorite writing is anything that I'd feel compelled to speak and then listen to.

PUBLICATION

EDITOR

Hello there! I’m Catherine and I use she/her pronouns. To me, Blue Mirror is a space for NCSSM students to showcase their work to each other and the community as a whole. As a creative myself, I am beyond thrilled to be a part of this publication. When not planning and designing the next issue of Blue Mirror, I enjoy drawing, graphic design, and collecting .
